TapIn Pokémon

Quickstart

From signing in to your first catch in about five minutes.

Open play-tapin-pokemon.lucaspiera.com and sign in with the email address or phone number on your TapIn account. TapIn sends you a one-time code; type it in and you are in. A trainer is a TapIn account, so your name, avatar, communities and follows come with you.

Pick a starter

The first time you open the app, Professor Oak and Professor Elm put six Poké Balls on the table. Each holds a level 5 starter:

KantoJohto
Bulbasaur (Grass / Poison)Chikorita (Grass)
Charmander (Fire)Cyndaquil (Fire)
Squirtle (Water)Totodile (Water)

Tap a ball to meet the Pokémon inside, give it a nickname if you like (up to 12 characters) and confirm. You can only choose once.

Every new trainer also gets a starting kit: ₽3,000, 5 Poké Balls and 3 Potions.

Wait for the grass to rustle

You do not need to go anywhere. While the app is open and visible, a wild Pokémon finds you every 2 to 5 minutes, on whatever page you are on. Most pages open the battle full screen. On a live page it opens as a side panel, so the stage stays in view.

The battle menu has four commands:

  • FIGHT picks one of your Pokémon's four moves.
  • BAG uses an item: a Potion, or a Poké Ball to catch.
  • POKéMON switches to another member of your party.
  • RUN tries to escape. Faster Pokémon get away more easily.

Wild battles have no turn timer, so take your time.

Catch it

Weaken the wild Pokémon without knocking it out, ideally put it to sleep or paralyze it, then open BAG and throw a ball. The ball shakes up to three times; three shakes and a click means it is yours. A new species adds a Pokédex entry and points to your trainer level. See Catching.
