Leaderboard and trainer level
How points are earned and how they become your trainer level.
Every trainer collects points. Points never go down, and they decide your trainer level and your place on the leaderboards.

| Catch an uncommon Pokémon | 25 |

A species' rarity is on its Pokédex page. Starters, fossils and the rarest wild Pokémon are very rare; the legendary birds, the beasts, Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh and Celebi are legendary.
Trainer level
Your trainer level grows with the square root of your points:
trainer level = floor( sqrt( points / 10 ) ) + 1| Points | Trainer level |
|---|---|
| 0 | 1 |
| 10 | 2 |
| 40 | 3 |
| 90 | 4 |
| 250 | 6 |
| 1,000 | 11 |
| 4,000 | 21 |
| 10,000 | 32 |
Early levels come quickly; later ones take a tournament or two.
Two leaderboards
- Global, under Leaderboard in the trainer menu: every trainer, ranked by total points.
- Per community, on each community page: points earned in that community's context, from catches in its wild pool, its gym and its lives' tournaments. Your community leaderboard is where the town's best trainers show up.
