Party
The six Pokémon you carry, and the one that leads.
Your party holds up to six Pokémon. They are the ones that battle, earn experience and follow you around. Every other Pokémon you own waits in the PC Box.
The lead
The first Pokémon in your party is your lead. It is the one sent out first in every battle, the icon next to your name across TapIn, and the partner that follows your cursor. Leading the party also builds friendship: one point for every 15 minutes you are online with it in front.
What you can do from the party screen
- Reorder the party to choose your lead.
- Nickname a Pokémon (up to 12 characters, or clear it to use the species name).
- Give or take a held item. One item per Pokémon. See Held items.
- Use an item on a Pokémon: a Potion, a stone, an Ether or a Rare Candy.
- Release a Pokémon. It is gone for good. You cannot release the last Pokémon in your party.
Health carries over
HP, PP and status conditions stay as they were when a battle ends. A Pokémon that fainted stays fainted until you heal it. Use medicine from the bag or visit the Pokémon Center, which heals everything for free. If all your Pokémon have fainted you cannot start a new battle until you heal.
Tournament battles are the exception: every Pokémon starts them fully healed at level 50 and returns exactly as it was before. See Tournaments.
